North Fork Mountain Inn
Ed & Carol Fischer, the new innkeepers and owners of the North Fork Mountain Inn, welcome you to the beauty of the mountains of West Virginia. We are pleased to announce an extended season and are now accepting reservations through January 10th, 2007.
The North Fork Mountain Inn has been described as “an outpost of luxury in the wilderness”. We invite you to come and enjoy the natural beauty of the area in a relaxing atmosphere. You will enjoy a scrumptious breakfast as you start your day. Whether you spend the day hiking in the Monongahela forest adjacent to the inn or enjoying the spectacular view of the mountains and valleys from a rocker on the Inn’s wraparound porches, it is like taking a journey back in time to a simpler, slower paced world.
A seven-mile journey up the mountain (on a paved road!) brings you to the Inn. The Main Inn is of rustic log construction with a native stone fireplace along the wall of the Great Room. The Inn’s six guest rooms are each uniquely decorated. All have private baths. Some include two-person jacuzzis and fireplaces. We also offer a fully-furnished 1-bedroom cabin with a kitchenette, screened porch, decks, and Direct TV.
A full breakfast is served for guests staying in the Inn and is available at an additional charge for cabin guests. Refreshments are available in the afternoon. Dinner is available on some evenings at an additional charge, please check with innkeepers on availability. There are also restaurants located in nearby Petersburg.
Activities at the Inn include billiards, table tennis, darts, horseshoes, and book, video & music libraries. Star Gazing is highly recommended since the absence of city lights makes the stars appear brighter and close enough to touch them. While peaceful and unpretentious, the Inn does offer television with Direct TV in the game room, in the event you miss civilization just a bit.
Guests will enjoy the abundance of wildlife, wildflowers, birds, smallmouth bass and trout available in this protected wilderness area. Or, if you prefer, simply sit back and read a book on the porch, taking in the majestic views of the Smoke Hole Canyon and enjoying the harmony with nature.
