Ponderosa Lodge B&B, The
The Ponderosa Lodge provides comfortable lodging in homestyle country elegance. The entire building is non-smoking. All of the exciting outdoor activities that the New River Gorge National River and the Gauley River National Recreation Area are noted for, including whitewater rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding and hiking, are within easy driving distance. The Lodge is also available for special events such as church and business retreats, weddings, receptions, and reunions.
The Lodge has ten rental rooms, each with a private bath and individually controlled heating and cooling. The first floor has two rooms with one queen bed each and two rooms with two full beds each. The second floor has a room with a king bed, a room with a queen bed and two rooms with two full beds. The third floor has two bedrooms that are adjacent to a lounge. One of the third floor bedrooms has two queen beds, the other has two full beds.
Relax in our spacious great room The 1300 sq. ft. great room with its ample seating and pleasant ambiance in conjunction with the 600 sq. ft. lounge on the third floor provide plenty of space for family reunions and retreats. We offer books and games for relaxation and entertainment. The televisions in the great room and third floor lounge have satellite cable.
Breakfast in the dining room Wakeup every morning to the warm aroma of fresh baked muffins or pastries. Our continental breakfast includes homemade muffins/pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice and milk. For $5.00 you can try our house specialty of stone ground buckwheat pancakes with pure West Virginia maple syrup and sausage. Another favorite of our guests is country style biscuits and sausage gravy with homefries. Whatever your pleasure, we'll strive to meet any dietary needs. The working cast iron stove in the dining room adds a touch of nostalgia as well as keeping the room feeling cozy and warm.
Take a short hike in the woods The hiking trails through the woods surrounding the lodge are perfect for relaxing and wildlife viewing. The woods and fields are home to over 40 migratory birds, deer, wild turkey, owls, bobcat, coyote, bear and an occasional eagle in the spring.
We are located in the heart of whitewater rafting country, 15 minutes from the New River Bridge in Fayette County. On State Route 60, also known as the Midland Trail, we are at mile marker 124.
